Saint Veronica suffered from a bleeding disorder for 12 years. All of her money was spent on doctors who could not heal her, and due to Jewish laws at the time, she would be punished if she was seen in public with blood on her clothes.
Saint Veronica knew of Christ and decided to go to Him when He visited. She believed deeply that He would heal her if she simply touched the hem of His robes.
Jesus was in a crowd, and when she touched the hem of His robes, her bleeding stopped immediately. Jesus turned and asked, “Who touched me?” His disciples were puzzled, and no one answered. Jesus said, “Someone touched me; for I noticed that power had gone out from me”.
Saint Veronica came forward and admitted to what she had done. Jesus said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” (Mark 5:34)
In Orthodox churches, you will see parishioners imitate Saint Veronica by touching the hem of the priest’s robe as he walks by holding the communion chalice.

My commissioner is related to Saint André Bessette and shares his last name. A Catholic saint, Saint Bessette was born in Quebec on August 9, 1845. Many people experienced physical healings after praying with him. "I do not cure," he said again and again. "Saint Joseph cures." He was deeply devoted to Saint Joseph, and he eventually needed four secretaries to help him respond to the 80,000 letters he received each year. He became known as the “Miracle Man of Montreal."

Saint Mary of Egypt is an Egyptian saint in the Orthodox church. She lived an extremely licentious life in Alexandria, prostituting herself but not accepting money. She traveled to Jerusalem for the Great Feasts of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross to find more partners for her lust, but when she tried to enter the church, she found that she was barred by a mysterious, unseen force. Realizing this was because of her impurity, she was overcome with remorse. She saw an icon of the Virgin Mary outside the Church and prayed for forgiveness. She attempted to enter the church again, and this time she was permitted in.
She returned to the icon of Mary to give thanks, and heard a voice telling her, "If you cross the Jordan, you will find glorious rest." She spent the rest of her life in penitence in the desert.

Saint George was a young soldier chosen to guard the Roman Emperor Diocletian (reigned 284-305 AD), who only trusted Christians to guard him. The Emperor ordered all soldiers to perform a sacrifice to the pagan gods, but Saint George refused, confessing to be a Christian in front of the Roman court. He was offered money and rewards if he would agree to worship the 12 pagan gods, but he still refused. He survived torture and was finally beheaded.
Saint George is also know as the "Dragon Slayer." A town was terrorized by a dragon who demanded the sacrifice of a beautiful maiden to access the town's water. This fell to the king, who offered his young daughter. Saint George rode into the village on horseback, slayed the dragon, and rescued the princess. The people of the city were so amazed at what they had witnessed that they renounced paganism and converted to Christianity.

Saint Patrick was Irish by birth, but rather was born in Roman Britain in the late 4th century. His home and village were brutally invaded when he was 16, and he was taken by pirates to Ireland as a slave. He was forced to work as a shepherd, spending his time alone. He turned to his religion for solace, saying over a hundred prayers a day.
One day, he had a dream from God telling him to flee. He worked for passage on a ship and returned to Britain, where he had a vision that inspired him to become a priest, and then a bishop. Saint Patrick went to Ireland and converted many people, and built churches across the country.
Saint Patrick is known for using three leafed shamrocks to explain the Holy Trinity ☘️
